Stranger than Fiction - Joan Fontcuberta

Today I went on a field trip with my fellow London College of Style Classmates to the Science Museum to view 'Stranger Than Fiction'. Joan Fontberta is an artist whose works investigate the truth and reliability of photography. Throughout his photography he uses visual languages of journalism, advertising, museum displays and scientific journals. His works are an investigation into photography's authority and our inclination to believe what we see.

This Master of photographing ideas compelled me think of how this can help me create such masters in fashion photography. After all fashion is just as mystical and mysterious as the works of Joan. The reason why I chose this photographic series from the gallery is because he has selectively combined different species as one, for example the the owl with a monkey frame, or the deer with wings - in the editorial world we always take risks, and this series presents to us that good risks can almost make the audience believe that its real, when its not. Incredible styling and right sources with an impeccable photography can too make the  audience investigate and incline to believing what they see, but be left in admiration in the most creative way.
