Manifesting Peace - Photo Mural Activation
Manifesting Peace
As part of the City of Toronto's Cultural Hotspot programming 2022, Scarborough Arts presented "All That is Golden," a dedication to the Golden Mile in Scarborough. As the title indicates, this project plays on this concept: the Golden Mile - described as a Barron, dull, big-box store, and industrial-focused area - does shine through the communities of people that make it a unique destination neighbourhood in Toronto. Our project highlights the art and public art, cultures, foods, comforts, and services available in the region, and all necessary for the well-being of locals.
Manifesting Peace is a Community Photo Mural Activation acknowledging the importance of Mental Health
I invited BIPOC members from the Scarborough and Toronto community to be photographed in The City of Toronto’s Cultural Hotspot programming Community Mural. The use of textiles as a backdrop to this installation is a way in which I connect my ancestry to that which of the diaspora. Creating the sense that
“We are all cut from the same cloth”.
The installation was also featured at the Behind The Art Collectives, Arts festival in August 2022 as a form of a plexiglass mural.
